PickCheck

Agents stop when the code is simple again.

Measures every function an agent changes with tree-sitter. Its hooks block the agent's stop while a changed function is over the limits, up to a retry cap.

Install PickCheck

npm install --global @pickforge/pickcheck && pickcheck-install

Needs Node.js 22 or newer. The second command asks which agent hooks to set up.

What it does

Seven harnesses

Hooks for Claude Code, Codex, Pi, OMP, Grok, Cursor and OpenCode. The installer keeps your existing configuration and can print its changes first.

Per-function limits

Cognitive complexity, nesting depth, lines, parameters and boolean operators, plus widget depth for Dart build methods. Every limit is configurable.

Only what changed

pickcheck check --changed reads the Git diff. With --base, each violation is new, worsened, unchanged or improved, so old debt does not block new work.

No service

A single local binary with the grammars built in. No external linters and no network calls while it checks.

Limits

CI tests PickCheck on Linux. macOS and Windows get release binaries that are not tested on those systems.
